Dolphy is laid to rest on July 15

Dolphy, the Philippine Cinema’s Comedy King, was laid to rest on July 15, 2012 at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Only Dolphy’s family, relatives and close friends were allowed to attend. The public was not allowed at the funeral, although the family of Dolphy did not permit the media from covering the event so the people could witness the proceedings live on television and on the internet as well.

Zsa Zsa Padilla, Dolphy’s long-time partner before he died, wore a simple black dress while the rest of the attendees wore white. She was very emotional when he kissed the casket of her “lovie” for the last time.

Dolphy was buried at around 2:20 PM. It was a solemn and organized funeral where Dolphy’s life was celebrated. The priest even led everyone in saying, “Mang Dolphy, masaya kami na kay Lord ka na.” It was followed by an applause and three “Hep, hep, hurray!”

Zsa Zsa gave a short speech to thank everyone who condoled with them and to thank Dolphy of the love he had given them.

“Maraming salamat sa pagmamahal na ibinigay mo sa amin. I love you, Lovie Ko. Until we meet again.”

Dolphy died of multiple organ failure on July 10, 2012 at the Makati Medical Center where he was being treated for pneumonia. He was diagnosed with stage 4 Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2009.
